Position Summary

The Director of National Accounts’ main function is to oversee the overall strategy of the National Account department including, but not limited to, brand priority by package and by chain, programming, discounting/promotions, forecasting and planning, effectively positioning the entire sales team to be successful. Specifically, the core responsibility is to develop, maintain and strengthen communications and relationships with key national chain buyers. By initiating strategic regional and national programs, identify the opportunities for Breckenridge Distillery to meet the needs of a national chain. Utilize relationships and fact-based selling with the chain’s buyer, while collaborating with their marketing team to maximize effective promotions. Leverage effective regionally and locally generated ideas in developing national level sales tactics. Work closely with distributors’ National Account Teams, Key Account Managers and On-Premise Managements.

Essential Responsibilities:

  • Oversee the growth of the Breckenridge Distillery portfolio by effectively utilizing brand and company resources to build volume and distribution with key On & Off-Premise National Accounts
  • Develop, communicate and implement national initiatives and brand priorities for assigned accounts, with assistance from Breckenridge Distillery marketing and sales teams and the distributors involved
  • Leverage effective regionally and locally generated ideas in developing national level sales tactics
  • Develop specific account level sales and marketing strategies in concert with specific beverage menu designs and cocktail creations
  • Create account level execution and compliance metrics to track distributor and account performance. Share data with Regional Managers to assist in local market planning process and enable evaluation of marketing programs
  • Report back sales and promotional data that meet the criteria of all funded programs.
  • Grow Breckenridge Distillery chain presence thru targeted and data-centric (internal VIP/external IRI and Nielsen) presentations that effectively convey the Breckenridge Distillery brands to gain new Points of Distribution (POD)
  • Develop and execute chain strategies, as well as programming, in accordance with overall sales strategy of Breckenridge Distillery
  • Communicate regularly with Regional Managers to ensure execution on opportunities within their territories
  • Work closely with Sales Analyst and Sr. VP of Sales in forecasting and goal setting, tracking rate of sale (ROS), POD’s and mandates
  • Communicate ads, displays, Limited Time Offers (LTO) and in & outs to Regional Manager Team and distributors; track execution and ROI on quarterly basis
  • Share monthly gap reports with distributor for assigned chain accounts and work to maintain 100% compliance

Qualifications:

  • Call on key on and off premise accounts within the assigned territory to sell in initial distribution and develop strong working relationships that generate reorder
  • Ride with distributor reps at least on a weekly basis to train and motivate them
  • Actively participate in brand promotions, tastings and events, which often occur in the evenings or on weekends, at least once per week
  • Report on depletions and accounts sold at both mid-month and end of month while providing weekly reporting on account calls
  • Provide monthly market and competitive brand reports to supervisor to include key success stories, competitive activities, market trends, distributor feedback and key lessons learned
  • Maintain calendar of market activities and promotions
  • Complete special projects, as needed, such as pricing, distribution or menu surveys
  • Must live in San Diego area

Position Skill Set Requirements:

  • Home base in Texas is preferred
  • Ability to build effective presentations and sell the Breckenridge Distillery story
  • Be a trusted resource for category managers, buyers and KAM’s across our distributors and assigned account base
  • A demonstrated record of success in establishing and delivering sales goals and implementing strategic initiatives
  • A track record for effectively managing budgets and maximizing returns on investment
  • Ability to utilize syndicated data to support fact selling
  • Strong current relationships with the local accounts
  • Strong communication skills, both verbally and written
  • Ability to travel extensively
  • Computer proficiency in Microsoft Office Excel, Word, and Power Point
  • Valid driver’s license and clean driving record

Education and Experience:

  • Must have 5 years of proven success in national account wine and spirits sales, serving many diverse operators or experience with direct key account, On & Off-Premise National Account channel responsibility, or buyers within the National Account arena
  • Distributor management experience

Compensation:

Physical Requirements:

  • Must regularly lift and/or move up to 40 pounds
  • Frequently required to use hands and fingers to type
  • Stand, sit and walk for up to 8+ hours a day
