Six Years of Broncos Bourbon: A Toast to Broncos Country
For six years, Breckenridge Distillery and the Denver Broncos have come together to create more than just collectible whiskey bottles. Broncos Bourbon has become a celebration of Colorado pride, football tradition, and the moments that bring Broncos Country together. From tailgates and watch parties to milestone victories and unforgettable memories, each release tells a story rooted in the team’s rich history.
As we unveil the latest edition, we’re looking back at six years of Broncos Bourbon and the legendary moments that inspired each bottle.
2021: Champions Blend
In 2021, Breckenridge Distillery launched the first-ever Broncos Bourbon release, Champions Blend, to celebrate becoming the official Hometown Bourbon Whiskey of the Denver Broncos. The inaugural collection featured two limited-edition bottles, an Orange Blend and a Blue Blend, created through a blending competition between Broncos Legends Jake Plummer and Reggie Rivers, Broncos Alumni Cheerleaders, and Broncos Super Fans, The Broncos Brothers. Fans were invited to vote for their favorite blend, making Champions Blend the start of a fan-driven tradition that continues today.
In its first year, this release was named Best American Blended Whiskey, Limited Release and was recognized for Icons of Whiskey for Brand Campaign of the Year by Whisky Magazine’s World Whiskies Awards. The release marked the beginning of a partnership between two Colorado icons and established the foundation for what would become six years of collectible Broncos spirits.
2022: Mile High Blend
Released in 2022, Mile High Blend paid tribute to the Broncos’ iconic Mile High Era. Like the inaugural Champions Blend, the release featured competing Orange and Blue bourbons, this time crafted by Broncos alumni Jake Plummer and Karl Mecklenburg alongside Breckenridge Distillery’s own master blenders. The commemorative bottles honored the team’s history with the classic 1962 Broncos logo and celebrated the pride, tradition, and spirit that define Broncos Country.
2023: Back-to-Back Blends
In 2023, the Back-to-Back Broncos Bourbon Blends honored the team’s World Championship wins in 1997 and 1998. Broncos alumni Alfred Williams and Ed McCaffrey joined Breckenridge Distillery’s Hans Stafsholt and Bryan Nolt for an Orange vs. Blue blending battle, with fans invited to vote for their favorite.
The partnership also expanded with the launch of Breckenridge Broncos Vodka, created to commemorate the Bronco Blizzard, the team’s first white alternate helmet. Breckenridge Distillery became the Official Bourbon and Vodka of the Denver Broncos, and the new Breckenridge Bourbon Club opened at Empower Field at Mile High.
2024: 5280 Blend
In 2024, 5280 Blend celebrated the Colorado landscape, the heart of Broncos fandom, and the team’s Mile High Collection. Broncos legends Randy Gradishar and Ed McCaffrey joined Breckenridge Distillery’s Hans Stafsholt and Bryan Nolt for an Orange vs. Blue blending battle, with both bourbons bottled at 87 proof in honor of Ed McCaffrey’s jersey number. Breckenridge Broncos Vodka returned for its second year, continuing the expantion of the partnership as the official Bourbon and Vodka of the Denver Broncos.
2025: Tribute To The 2015 World Championship
In 2025, Breckenridge Distillery celebrated its fifth year with the Denver Broncos by releasing a full lineup of limited-edition spirits. The collection featured Broncos Honey Whiskey, Broncos Creamsicle Vodka Seltzer, a camo-labeled Breckenridge Bourbon (A Salute to Service), and the exclusive Broncos Single Barrel Championship Reserve. Inspired by Broncos Country and the 10th anniversary of the 2015 World Championship, the lineup offered something special for every kind of fan.
2026: The Drive Collection
In 2026, Breckenridge Distillery kicked off another season with the Denver Broncos by honoring one of the most iconic moments in franchise history: The Drive. Inspired by John Elway’s legendary 98-yard drive in the 1986 AFC Championship Game, the limited-edition collection celebrated the determination, grit, and resilience that define Broncos Country.
The sixth-year release expanded beyond a single bottle, featuring a collection of commemorative whiskeys inspired by The Drive and giving fans new ways to celebrate Broncos history. As the partnership entered its sixth season, the collection continued the tradition of connecting Broncos legends, memorable moments, and award-winning Colorado spirits.
