9 Summer Cocktails + Recipes from the Breckenridge Distillery

In our minds, summer is about two things: refreshing cocktails and good times. We’re hooking you up with recipes from our Liquid Chef Billie Keithley. She says, “if it’s edible, I can make a cocktail out of it.” Words to live by, we think. These easy-to-make cocktails are sure to help you kick back, relax and enjoy the summer sun…and heck, impress your guests at your next patio party. This cocktail comes from our deep passion of whiskey and our love for fresh, seasonal fruits. PS, have you ever seen what a passion fruit looks like? No pretty, but they sure are tasty, especially paired with our Breck Bourbon and orange flower water.

Pure. Whiskey. Passion.

2oz Breckenridge Bourbon
2oz apple liqueur
1-1/2oz passion fruit juice
1-1/4oz lemon juice
2 drops orange flower water
Garnish: dehydrated passion fruit slice

*shake top 5 ingredients with ice, Serve up.

Tea-ki VIBES

This cocktail is what summer has waiting for. It has beach vibes written all over it. Featuring our Spiced Rum, cream of coconut and double strength green tea, this cocktail will give you just the boost you need on those hot afternoons.

Vacay Vibes

2oz Breckenridge Spiced Rum
2oz cream of coconut
2oz double strength green tea
1oz pineapple juice
Pinch of green matcha tea
Garnish: mint and favorite tiki imaginations

*Shake top 5 ingredients with ice. Strain over crushed ice.


A whole bunch of monkey business in this summer elixir. Breckenridge Bourbon, banana, in-house allspice dram, lime, mint & vintage goodness. You and your guest will go love this fun cocktail.

Swanky Banana Swizzle

2oz Breckenridge Bourbon
1oz banana syrup
1/2oz allspice dram
1/2oz lime juice
4 dashes Angostura Bitters
6 mint leaves
Garnish: mint sprig

*muddle mint, banana syrup, lime and dram. Add half a glass of crushed ice, swizzle with swizzle stick or bar spoon. Add more crushed ice and bourbon. Swizzle, top with crushed ice & bitters.


Drinks as fresh as you’ll find at the farmers market, now served at the Breckenridge Distillery! A fresh fruit libation made with Breckenridge Bourbon, blackberries, Teakoe Signature Black Tea, Orgeat, and citrus.

1-1/2oz Breckenridge Bourbon
1oz Teakoe black tea
1oz in-house Orgeat
1/2oz lemon juice
4-5 blackberries
Garnish: blackberries, a sprig of mint and powdered sugar. Double rocks or pebble ice


A clearly eye-catching cocktail to quench one’s thirst. Breckenridge Vodka, butterfly pea flower syrup, citrus and a pinch of Himalayan sea salt. You don’t have to take our word for it, but color changing magic will appear before your eyes at the twist of the straw.

Flutterby Potion

1-1/2oz Breckenridge Vodka
1-1/2oz butterfly pea flower/Himalayan sea salt syrup*
1-1/2oz fresh lemon juice
Garnish: edible butterfly

Pour first 2 ingredients in a 10oz Collins.
Add crushed or pebble ice.
Top with lemon juice.
* butterfly pea flower syrup. Over medium heat, add 4 cups water, 1oz dried butterfly pea flowers, stir and let the color turn blue. Strain out the flowers, add 1/4 teaspoon Himalayan sea salt, 2 cups sugar. Stir until dissolved.


Breckenridge Spiced Whiskey complements this coconut elixir with turmeric, pear and a touch of nut. Close your eyes and you’ll feel like you’re on a tropical beach sipping straight out of the coconut!

Cuckoo Coconut

2oz Breckenridge Spiced Whiskey
1-1/2oz cream of coconut
1-1/2oz almond milk
1oz pear juice
1oz Orgeat
1/4 teaspoon Turmeric
Garnish: cinnamon stick

Shake 6 ingredients with ice. Serve over crushed or pebble ice.


In the 19th century, the Julep became the World’s most talked about mixed cocktail. This tantalizing tipple officially became the drink of the Kentucky Derby in 1938. Breckenridge Distillers 105 Proof Bourbon, Teakoe Kodiak Mountain Mint Tea, white/dark sugars and a mint sprig.
1-1/2oz Breckenridge High Proof
3/4oz mint tea syrup
Crushed ice
Garnish: mint sprig and powdered sugar


This isn’t your grandmother’s tea! A cocktail you’ll crave. Breckenridge Spiced Rum, Teakoe Front Porch Peach tea, Tim Burton’s Breckenridge Bourbon Maple Syrup, ginger beer, dijon, peppered maple bacon garnish and a lime wedge. Like any recipe with bacon involved, you won’t be able to have just one.

Tea Time Mule
1oz Teakoe Peach tea
Top with ginger beer. Squeeze quarter lime
Garnish: Clothesline Bacon (Dijon, maple, & pepper)


Havana, Cuba is said to be the birthplace of the Mojito. This classic island refresher is made with Breckenridge White Rum (only available at the BDR Bar), mint, lime, and sugar.

2oz Breckenridge Spiced Rum
1oz lime juice
1oz raw simple
12 mint leaves
6 raspberries
Top with soda
Garnish: mint sprig, add berries for garnish
